Lafayette Police Department and Marsh Supermarkets team up for National Night Out

The Lafayette Police Department is inviting the community to participate in the 28th annual National Night Out.

Lt. Brad Bishop said the department is partnering with Marsh Supermarkets and the National Association of Town Watch for this year's event.

From 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, the Lafayette Marsh Supermarkets at 3825 Indiana 26 East and 2250 Teal Road will be offering free hot dogs, chips and a drink to the first 250 people that arrive.

Officers from the Lafayette Police Department, including those from D.A.R.E., the bike patrol and K9 programs, will be in attendance.

You can also show your support for our local law enforcement and send a message to criminals that we're organized and fighting back by turning on your porch and patio lights this evening and every evening.

NATIONAL NIGHT OUT is designed to:

  • Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness;
  • Generate support for, and participation in, local anticrime programs;
  • Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; and
  • Send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
