National Mentoring Month :: One2One Mentoring at Cary Home

1:1 Mentoring is a program designed to match youth from Cary Home for Children in Lafayette Indiana with positive role models from the community. This mentoring program was started in 2010.

Participants in the program are matched in a one-to-one relationship based on similar interests. Mentors and mentees will meet a minimum of one hour per week at Cary Home and participate in activities of mutual interest. Participants are expected to commit at least one year to the match.

Mission:

* To encourage personal & educational growth.
* To build healthy relationships between youth & adults.
* To strengthen developmental assets in our youth.
* To reduce recidivism by encouraging youth to make better choices.

1:1 Mentoring has been matching mentors and mentees since August of 2010. They have had 16 total matches since the beginning of the program. Currently they are looking for mentors for 4 boys who are on the waiting list.

If you are interested or know of someone who may be interested in becoming a mentor please contact Emily Kraska at Cary Home with any questions. You may reach her by phone at 765.474.4616 x233 or by email at ekraska@tippecanoe.in.gov.
