We're Gearing Up to Celebrate Recovery from Addiction!

September is National Recovery Month, and there are a variety of events in our community that will help us "promote the societal benefits of prevention, treatment, and recovery for mental and substance use disorders, celebrate people in recovery, laud the contributions of treatment and service providers, and promote the message that recovery in all its forms is possible." Please make plans to join us for these events:

September 4, 5-8pm:
Speaker Silouan Green will present "Finding Purpose
in our Brokenness," a topic which will address approaching a recovery
mindset in everyday living. This event, sponsored by Pride Lafayette, Inc.,
will take place at Sylvia's Brick Oven & Columbia Ballroom (625 Columbia
Street, Lafayette) Visit community service booths from 5-6; speaker will
begin at 6:30. Enjoy dinner while you're there! Community agencies
interested in sharing information on their services at this event are
welcome to do so. Please contact Kate Kerrigan or Jeffrey Barbee for details.

September 14, 8am:
Home with Hope is hosting Run for Recovery, a 5K race benefiting their organization, at the Tippecanoe County Amphitheater Park. More information and registration is available at www.recoveryrun.org, or download an event flyer here
 
September 21, 4-7pm:
The SURF Center will hold an Open House at its
new location, 307 N. 10th Street in Lafayette. This event will allow
community members to tour the new facility and enjoy various family
friendly activities to celebrate the relocation of this valuable community
organization. 

Recovery Blog:
The Drug-Free Coalition will also be dedicating this blog
during the month of September to stories of recovery from addiction, and
we're still taking submissions from community members like you. If you
