Superbowl 2012 :: Teens and Twitter

For the 2 years now the Drug-Free Coalition has encouraged schools to participate in the Drug Free Action Alliances, Big Bowl Vote, during the Superbowl. This year they are adding another dynamic to the conversation with teens about alcohol and advertising during the Super Bowl.

In order to engage students, the alliance is stepping into their world of technology. What better way to reach the average teen than their cell phone (or home computer)! To gain access to instant feedback on the ads from youth, they will encourage middle and high school students to TWEET about their favorite and not-so-favorite commercials, during and after the big game.

They will also be tossing out some questions specific to the alcohol ads to gain further insight. But in order to bring the youth on board, OUR help in needed.

  • Encourage teens you know to “follow” us.
  • If you want in on what they have to say, you’ll need a Twitter account to follow us too.
  • You and your students can find us on Twitter @DrugFreeAction.

This year Super Bowl Sunday is February 5th (Kickoff is at 6:30 p.m. EST on NBC)
